K. Eder collected three hits in three at bats, as Twinsburg Varsity Tigers defeated Solon Varsity Comets 10-4 on Wednesday. Eder doubled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
A double by Colleen Krzywicki put Solon Varsity Comets on the board in the top of the first.
M. Sweeney hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Twinsburg Varsity Tigers tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Solon Varsity Comets took the lead in the top of the second. An error scored two runs, to give Solon Varsity Comets the upper hand, 3-1.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers captured the lead, 6-4, in the bottom of the fourth after S. Galluppi singled to center field, and Sweeney singled to right field, each scoring two runs.
R. Velican earned the win for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and four runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking three. Grace Gerhard took the loss for Solon Varsity Comets. The starter went five innings, surrendering seven runs on 10 hits, striking out four and walking three. M. Riley threw two and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers in relief. The reliever gave up two hits, striking out one and walking none.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers amassed 13 hits in the game. Sweeney drove the middle of the lineup, leading Twinsburg Varsity Tigers with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-3 on the day. P. Sweeney and Eder each collected three hits for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. Eder stole two bases.
Number nine hitter, Izzy Shima, showed the depth of Solon Varsity Comets’s lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Alyssa Gerome and Krzywicki each drove in one run for Solon Varsity Comets. Solon Varsity Comets were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Kassidy Samuelraj had the most chances in the field with six.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers will travel to Hudson Varsity Explorers for their next game on Saturday.
