State Representative Casey Weinstein hosts series of COVID-19 related virtual town halls

Hudson, OH – State Representative Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) has hosted three virtual town halls focusing on educating constituents on COVID-19 related topics and answering questions live on social media. Representative Weinstein is known for hosting in-person town halls throughout the district every quarter, however, due to shelter in place and social distancing restrictions he has moved the meetings to a virtual platform and increased frequency. “It’s important to me to have active communication with my constituents. We all have questions, fears, and uncertainty about the future, and I believe it is my job to help in whatever way I can during this time,” said Representative Weinstein.

His previous town halls have covered many topics related to this global health crisis, some of which are: what to do if you are experiencing symptoms, unemployment, support for small businesses, face masks, and more. The most recent Zoom town hall featured an Ohio physician and fellow State Representative who is fighting the COVID-19 on the front lines, Dr. Beth Liston. Liston and Weinstein focused this town hall on healthcare and health related topics and questions. “I’ve been actively volunteering in the community trying to do my part during this crisis, and what I am hearing from everyone is that open and frequent communication from our state’s leaders is reassuring and brings them comfort,” added Weinstein.

In light of the recent announcement to close Ohio’s schools through the remainder of the school year, the next Zoom town hall will feature a teacher from the Stow-Munroe Falls School District and will focus on how parents who are now homeschooling their children can make the most of the situation. This town hall is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at 4:00 p.m. Another upcoming town hall will feature a small business owner within the district to examine the hardships our small business owners, who are the backbone of our local economy, are facing in light of the situation. The goal is to highlight stories from across the district to bring us together, even if it has to be done remotely to keep us all safe.

Previous town halls can be viewed on Representative Weinstein’s Facebook page.

The COVID-19 call center will be open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and can be reached at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634).
