Storms and High Winds Cause Trouble Locally Over the Weekend

On Sunday, Olde 8 was closed from the Parkside Development entrance to Rt 8. A tree fell on the power lines and took out the transformer. The fire department was on the scene because the power lines are arcing. Residents of the development and surrounding areas, were without power for hours.

According to the FirstEnergy outage map, Cuyahoga County still had about 1,200 residents without power as of 9 p.m. Summit County had 580, Geauga County 243, Lorain County 340, and Summit County with 579 – Source FOX8.

There were also lines down and a road closure at Sagamore Rd. and Dunham Rd.

According to a local source, the storms late Saturday night caused a back up of raw sewage in some of the Macedonia Commons stores. The stores that were affected: Red Wings, Game Stop, Sport Clips and Jersey Mikes. The clean up started early Sunday morning.

Romeo’s Pizza in Northfield Center and other businesses in the same plaza also had to deal with flooding this past weekend.
