Summit County is switching to a new online system for building permits and inspections. The county’s Division of Building Standards will begin using the platform, called GovWell, on Monday, September 28.
County officials say the change is meant to make permitting more efficient and easier to follow for residents, business owners and contractors. Officials also expect the new system to cut down on delays during the review process.
What is changing
GovWell will serve as a single portal for applying for building permits, submitting plans, scheduling inspections and tracking application status. Applicants will be able to check where their request stands without calling the county office directly.
What happens to CityWorks
CityWorks, the county’s current portal, will stay available only for permit and inspection requests already in progress. New requests will not be accepted through CityWorks after Friday, September 25.
