Summit County Animal Control Gets Over 70,000 Pounds of Pet Food Through Million Meals Campaign

Great news for local pet owners! Summit County Animal Control recently received a massive donation of pet food thanks to the Million Meals campaign by Greater Good Charities and Bally Bet.

The campaign ran throughout the 2024 NFL season, donating meals based on social media activity and points scored by the Cleveland Browns—with 1,000 pet meals donated per point. This helped bring more than 70,000 pounds of pet food to Summit County Animal Control to support families in need.

County Executive Ilene Shapiro praised the initiative, which benefits the Community Pet Food Pantry — a monthly drive-thru event providing free pet food to local residents.

The next Community Pet Food Pantry event is on Tuesday, June 24, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 250 Opportunity Parkway, Akron. Residents should enter via Pier Drive to W. Bartges Street and line up no earlier than 4:30 p.m. for the drive-thru service.

This donation helps ensure pets in Summit County don’t go hungry, supporting pet owners facing financial challenges.
