Nice Zoom this morning (8/24/2023) via ACAR with our Summit County Fiscal Officer regarding the property tax re-appraisals … her best advice to those considering challenging their new value from her office is to obtain a professional appraisal. Reminder that 35% of the market value they assign is taxed and the new taxes will not be available until after the November election to update levies for areas/communities. Lastly, our Fiscal Officer did not mandate these increases! The State of Ohio Dept. of Taxation mandated this review/re-appraisal and her department successfully negotiated it down from what the State sought to charge property owners.
They/Summit County Auditor will be implementing a Fraud Notification process in mid-October and it will be FREE. You will have to sign up for the alerts should someone file something against your property. It will not prevent them, it is merely an alert system so you are able to be aware and take action if something is not correct/fraudulent.
