Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Prosecutor’s Office partner for CCW Workshop

AKRON – Summit County Sheriff Kandy Fatheree and Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that their Offices are partnering to host a series of CCW Workshops throughout the county in January 2023.

The workshops will be divided into two halves. The first half will be taught by an attorney from the Prosecutor’s Office, and will focus on the new changes to Ohio’s concealed carry laws that went into effect last summer and what impact those changes will have on gunowners and law enforcement.

The second half will consist of a basic gun safety class taught by a Sheriff’s deputy instructor to educate gun owners on best practices to safely store, handle, and use their weapon. At the end of each session attendees will receive a complimentary gun lock from the Sheriff’s Office.

“As Sheriff, I am statutorily responsible for our county’s CCW program,” said Sheriff Fatheree. “Regardless of what changes may occur in state law, our Office will do whatever we can to educate the public, and help keep them and our members of law enforcement safe.”

“Ohio law has changed when it comes to citizens legally allowed to conceal and carry a gun and we want to make sure as many people as possible are aware of those changes,” added Prosecutor Bevan Walsh. “We are honored to work with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office to provide this important training.”

Three classes will be held countywide from 7:00-9:00pm on the following dates and locations:

Tuesday, January 10th: Ohio Means Jobs Building, 1040 E. Tallmadge Rd, Akron, OH 44310

Wednesday, January 11th: Northfield Center VFW Hall, 8584 Olde Eight Rd, Northfield, OH 44067

Thursday, January 12th: Summit County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 2825 Greensburg Rd, North Canton, OH 44720

Those interested in attending must register in advance, as seating is limited at each venue. Registration can be found under the CCW section of the Sheriff’s Office website at sheriff.summitoh.net, the CCW section of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office mobile app, or by scanning the QR code below.
