Summit County Sheriff’s Office: Drug Trafficking Interdiction

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, The Summit County Drug Unit in conjunction with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted drug interdiction in a high traffic area of Coventry Township. The operation resulted in 21 traffic stops, two original arrests, and one warrant arrest. During the operation, one illegal handgun, Fentanyl, and suspected opioid pills were seized and taken into evidence. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Summit County Drug Unit regularly conducts these operations throughout Summit County. The goal of these operations is to take illegal narcotics and drug traffickers off the streets.

The Summit County Drug Unit is led by Sheriff Kandy Fatheree and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Participating members include the Akron Police Department, the University of Akron Police Department, Copley Township Police Department, Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, New Franklin Police Department, the Stow Police Department, Silverlake Police Department, Reminderville Police Department, The Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the United States Postal Service, the National Guard, and the Ohio Parole Authority.
