Summit County Sheriff Kandy Fatheree is excited to announce that the fourth annual Summit Faith & Blue will be held on Saturday, October 5th from 11:00am – 2:00pm at Hardesty Park in Akron.
The Faith & Blue initiative is the largest nationwide community-law enforcement collaboration of its kind. The goal of Faith & Blue is to strengthen the ties between law enforcement and the community and heal divisions that have widened in recent years. Faith-based organizations are key to this mission because they are the largest and most diverse community resource in the nation. Thousands of Faith & Blue events will be held across the United States that same weekend in October.
“The mission of Faith & Blue remains important in our community and in our nation,” said Sheriff Fatheree. “If we are to have safe neighborhoods and build trust between law enforcement and the community, we have to start coming together and seeing one another as neighbors.”
Summit Faith & Blue is free and open to the public. Fun, family-friendly interactive games, activities, raffles, performances, a touch-a-truck, an obstacle course, and a 1K fun run/walk are planned involving members of law enforcement and the community participating together. Free food and drink will be available.
