On Monday, May 31, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Summit Metro Crash Response Team responded to a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a car in the City of Green.

Investigators found that just before 2:00 p.m., a 46 year old male and 56 year old female were riding a 2021 Harley Davidson Streetglide northbound on South Main Street near East Comet Road in the City of Green. At the same time, 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche, being driven by a 36 year old male, was traveling southbound on South Main Street. The driver of the Avalanche turned left on East Comet in front of the motorcycle and the motorcycle subsequently struck the Avalanche.

The 46 year old male from Carroll County was pronounced deceased on scene from injuries sustained in the crash. The 56 year old female passenger from Massillon was ejected from the motorcycle and she sustained life threatening injuries. The female was transported to Akron City Hospital by the Green Fire Department. Neither rider was wearing a helmet. The 36 year old male from Uniontown and the other passengers in the Avalanche were not injured. All of them appeared to be wearing seatbelts.

Neither speed, alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the crash. The road was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours. The crash remains under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Summit Metro Crash Response Team.

Follow up questions should be directed to Inspector William Holland at 330-620-9738.
