On December 14, 2018, The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery at the Target located at 762 Arlington Ridge in the City of Green. It was reported that a white male entered the store and attempted to steal several hundred dollars of merchandise. The male was confronted by store security at the exit. The male then assaulted the security guard and fled the scene in a black Chevrolet HHR. A Summit County Deputy Sheriff located the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Interstate 77 and subsequently stopped the vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Christopher Williams. He was confirmed to be the suspect in the robbery at the Target. Williams attempted to flee on foot from the deputy and was apprehended after he resisted his arrest and assaulted the deputy. Williams, age 30 of Canton was arrested and charged with Robbery (F-2), Assault on a Police Officer (F-4), and Resisting Arrest (M-2). He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
The deputy was treated and released by the City of Green Fire Department for minor injuries. Williams was found to in possession of additional stolen merchandise from Walmart. The stolen merchandise was returned and additional charges pending.
