By Northfield Center Township Trustee Paul G. Buescher
I just wanted to pass on that last [Wednesday] night at 2156 hours we received a 911 call from a 7 year old at an Olde Eight residence. His 34-year-old mother was on the couch and unresponsive. She was found to have shallow breathing and a weak pulse as Deputy Croft arrived doing his initial assessment. Approximately 2 minutes later she went into full cardiac arrest. Deputy Rocky Croft started CPR and was joined by Deputy Rob Schneckenburger a few moments later. They did CPR for approximately 8 minutes and were able to revive her. Macedonia Fire, who was providing mutual aid arrived and then transported her, with Schneckenburger escorting, to Cleveland Clinic in Twinsburg. Deputy Croft later went to the hospital to check on her and she was talking and expected to make a full recovery. I wanted you all to know what an outstanding job both deputies did. This is not always the case when an individual is in full arrest but having first responders well trained and prepared is the best possible outcome anyone could ask for. She is also the mother of 3 children who were also turned over to a relative.
Thanks Wes Dobbins

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q >>> – Paul, my wife and I recently noticed the American flag in front of the Spitzer lot on Rt 82 is torn and tattered. It reminds me of the flags seen on deck of ships at Pearl Harbor. You are in a position to contact someone and request removal or replacement. It truly looks awful.
A >>> – I called Spitzer Thursday evening and talked with Stephanie. She assured me that they would take care of the flag.
Q >>> – Is this [Mather House Demolition] really an “option”? Isn’t this the obvious “choice”? Why would Huntington pay for the cost of demo themselves if they can get taxpayer dollars to do so? Why is H even being offered this option? They obviously have the profits to deploy to clean it up themselves. Thanks,
“The third option is Huntington Bank immediately sign off on the demolition by a letter to the Township allowing the Township to use Summit County Land Bank Funds to demolish the structure and clean up the site.”
A >>> – The three options are the only ones that we can legally offer or exercise. Either way, the bank WILL absorb and eventually have to pay all of the costs of demolition if the Township has to initiate the demolition. In other words, if we have to FRONT the funds, those funds will be recovered through our billing or the eventual filing of the amount on the tax duplicate of the property. The Bottom line here is that the taxpayers of Northfield Center will NOT be paying for this!
