TV Series Review: Dress My Tour

I recently started watching a new Hulu show called Dress My Tour, hosted by supermodel and actress Kate Upton. The series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the unpredictable intersection of the fashion and music industries. It follows 11 aspiring fashion designers on an emotional journey as they create stunning pieces for some of music’s biggest stars, including JoJo Siwa, Paula Abdul, Toni Braxton, and more. The stakes are high, with a $100,000 prize on the line.

Each episode features a different musical guest, and contestants design outfits inspired by that artist. After a runway showcase (complete with the artist’s music playing), the guest judge and regular judges select a top design and two bottom contestants. Here’s the twist: the decision on who goes home isn’t made by the judges but by the contestants themselves. Unlike Survivor, where voting is anonymous, contestants must openly explain why they think someone should leave, leading to some uncomfortable moments and inevitable drama.

The show doesn’t feel overly manipulated like some reality TV. That said, there’s still a bit of producer-fueled tension, like contestants being asked who they think should go home, even outside of elimination discussions. One memorable moment involved a contestant falsely claiming to have a secret advantage, which was quickly debunked by a producer. It’ll be interesting to see if this deception has any lasting consequences.

What I love most is seeing the designers’ creative process — from initial sketches to the final runway presentation. The musical guest judges provide insightful critiques, highlighting what worked and what didn’t. It’s a refreshing take compared to other reality shows that rely heavily on manufactured drama.

If you’re into reality TV, this show is worth checking out. It’s a nice change from series like The Real Housewives, where the focus is often just exaggerated drama. I’m hooked on Dress My Tour and looking forward to the next episode. If you’ve watched it or have other favorite reality shows, let me know in the comments — I’d love to hear your thoughts!
