Twinsburg Council Advances Multiple Projects, Celebrates Officer Hayes’ Promotion to Police Sergeant (VIDEO)

The City of Twinsburg held two consecutive meetings on January 28, 2025, beginning with a caucus session at 7:00 PM followed by the regular council meeting at 7:30 PM. The caucus meeting began with roll call and quickly moved into an executive session.

During the regular council meeting, following the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance, the council approved minutes from their January 14th meeting and proceeded with committee reports.

Several significant updates were shared during the council communications. The Planning Commission reported their approval of Heritage Development’s rezoning request. Councilwoman Walker announced an upcoming Black History Month event scheduled for February 19th at Twinsburg High School, encouraging diverse community participation. The Finance Committee received a comprehensive 2024 year-end review, and the ARB reported on three cases including business signage and residential additions.

Mayor Sam Scaffide shared various community updates, including an upcoming Valentine’s Day senior event, the reintroduction of fitness center party packages, and the State of the City address scheduled for April 10th at the Hilton Garden. He also announced the return of quarterly “Muffins with the Mayor” meetings, with the first session scheduled for February 13th featuring Police Chief Thomas Mason.

Police Chief Mason provided a detailed report showing increased activity in 2024, with December alone seeing 2,885 calls – up 185 from the previous year. The department’s total 2024 calls reached 35,417, marking a 1,488 increase from 2023. The chief also announced staffing changes, including the promotion of Officer Jeff Hayes to Sergeant and the hiring of two new officers.
