A walk-off left Twinsburg Varsity Tigers on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to Green Varsity Bulldogs on Monday. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers lost despite out-hitting Green Varsity Bulldogs 11 to eight. Cole Kramer, William Bamler, Bobby Lemieux, Kyler Hoon, and Jason Cox each collected two hits for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers.
A single by Cox put Twinsburg Varsity Tigers on the board in the top of the first.
Jack Logsdon singled to center field, which helped Green Varsity Bulldogs tie the game at two in the bottom of the second.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers took the lead in the top of the third. Cox tripled, scoring one run, to give Twinsburg Varsity Tigers the lead, 3-2.
Green Varsity Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run to left field by Dominic Salomone on a 3-0 count.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Green Varsity Bulldogs went back into the lead after Salomone singled down the left field line, and Twinsburg Varsity Tigers committed an error, each scoring one run.
Anthony Micale earned the win for Green Varsity Bulldogs. The righty surrendered six hits and one run over three and one-third innings, striking out none and walking two. Carter Klominek took the loss for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The reliever went two and one-third innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking none. Nathan Kimmel stepped on the hill first for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The southpaw gave up four hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Griff Carmichael stepped on the bump first for Green Varsity Bulldogs. The pitcher allowed five hits and four runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking four.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers tallied 11 hits in the game. Cox drove the middle of the lineup, leading Twinsburg Varsity Tigers with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. JD Okuma paced Twinsburg Varsity Tigers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.
Logsdon, the number eight hitter for Green Varsity Bulldogs, led the way with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Salomone went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Green Varsity Bulldogs in hits. Green Varsity Bulldogs turned one double play in the game. Green Varsity Bulldogs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Salomone had the most chances in the field with four.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers play at home on Tuesday against Hudson in their next game.
