Twinsburg Varsity Tigers won big over Kenston Varsity Bombers 15-2 on Monday.
A single by Kyler Hoon put Twinsburg Varsity Tigers on the board in the top of the first.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers extended their early lead with six runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by JD Okuma, Hoon, Lane Conway, and Cole Kramer.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers scored two runs in the top of the third on a home run to left field by Bobby Lemieux.
Nicholas Labella earned the win for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. The hurler allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking four. Andy Fender took the loss for Kenston Varsity Bombers. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing six runs on five hits, striking out one and walking three. Ryan Cigany threw two innings of shutout ball for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers in relief. The hurler allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers piled up 12 hits in the game. Conway provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Twinsburg Varsity Tigers with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Okuma led Twinsburg Varsity Tigers with three hits in five at bats. Lemieux and Hoon each collected multiple hits for Twinsburg Varsity Tigers. Twinsburg Varsity Tigers had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 12 walks for the game. Aiden Shinada, Lemieux, Hoon, and Conway led the team with two free passes each.
Lucas Kaltenbach went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Number eight hitter, Owen Ryan, showed the depth of Kenston Varsity Bombers’s lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Kenston Varsity Bombers turned one double play in the game.
Twinsburg Varsity Tigers will travel to Solon for their next game on Tuesday.
