Girls Varsity Golf Team Claims Historic Suburban League Championship

Squad becomes first in school history to sweep all four league tournaments

The girls varsity golf team made school history Wednesday, capturing the 2025 Suburban League Tournament with a team score of 341 to complete an unprecedented clean sweep of all four league tournaments this season.

The victory at the final tournament secured the team’s status as undisputed Suburban League National Conference champions, marking the first time in school history a girls golf squad has won all four seasonal tournaments.

North Royalton finished second with a score of 353, followed by Hudson at 354 in the tournament that capped off the regular season competition.

The championship performance was anchored by Carley Sutton, who fired a personal-best 77 to lead the team. Natalie Barnes contributed an 83, while Polly Loney added an 88. Maddie Eisner shot 93, Kayla Joo recorded 98, and Tori Chylik finished with 117.

Five team members earned all-league recognition for their season-long performance. Natalie Barnes, Carley Sutton, and Maddie Eisner were named to the first team all-league squad. Polly Loney earned second team honors, finishing just one spot away from first team selection. Kayla Joo received honorable mention recognition.

The junior varsity squad has also excelled this season, winning seven of nine dual matches with one final match remaining Sept. 30 against Revere. The JV team has shown significant improvement in tournament play, lowering their average team scores by 76 strokes per tournament compared to last year’s results.

The varsity team now prepares for the state tournament, beginning with sectionals Oct. 1 at Fox Den Golf Course.
