Varsity Softball: Nordonia Lady Knights Lose Two Games at the Akron Tournament to Olmsted Falls and Glen Oak Saturday

Nordonia Knights Varsity Falls To Olmsted Falls After Sixth Inning Score

Nordonia Knights Varsity lost the lead late in a 7-4 defeat to Olmsted Falls on Saturday. The game was tied at four with Olmsted Falls batting in the top of the sixth when #22’s sac fly scored one run for Olmsted Falls. Olmsted Falls fired up the offense in the first inning. Ashley Zgodzinski drove in one when she doubled. Nordonia Knights Varsity knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Hannah Ours doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Kayla Kippes toed the rubber for Olmsted Falls. She went seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and striking out five. Rachel Cornett got the start for Nordonia Knights Varsity. She allowed 15 hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out three. Nordonia Knights Varsity had nine hits in the game. Grace Barth, Ours, and Jenn Willis all had multiple hits for Nordonia Knights Varsity. Willis, Ours, and Barth each managed two hits to lead Nordonia Knights Varsity. Olmsted Falls collected 15 hits. Nicole O’Neill, Zgodzinski, Claudia Schuh, and Peyton Bielski each collected multiple hits for Olmsted Falls. Olmsted Falls didn’t commit a single error in the field. Keeley Patton had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

Nordonia Knights Varsity Loses Lead Early

Nordonia Knights Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 6-2 loss to GlenOak on Saturday. GlenOak took the lead on a single in the first inning. GlenOak opened up scoring in the first inning. #24 singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. #15 led things off on the rubber for GlenOak. She allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out ten and walking zero. Hallie Majoros started the game for Nordonia Knights Varsity. She lasted seven innings, allowing 11 hits and six runs while striking out one. GlenOak socked two home runs on the day. #13 went for the long ball in the seventh inning. #22 had a dinger in the sixth inning. Jordyn Dean led Nordonia Knights Varsity with two hits in three at bats. GlenOak totaled 11 hits in the game. #22, #13, #24, #18, and #15 all managed multiple hits for GlenOak. #22 went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead GlenOak in hits. GlenOak didn’t commit a single error in the field. #13 had the most chances in the field with 13.
