Although Chipotle is only accepting digital orders, it was nice to see the local facility communicate this change to confused customers. Upon my arrival, I was one of those confused customers.
On the doors of our Chipotle is a laminated advertisement showing text and a QR code. Scan the code with your smartphone camera and follow the prompts. I did so, went back to my car, ordered and ~10 minutes later my order was on the rack near the cash register. The humor in this is that cash was not at all involved in the process.
I just finished teaching my pal how to buy Bitcoin (BTC) with cash. Effectively, one takes their cash, inserts bills into the Bitcoin ATM closest to them and out prints a receipt. One then takes their smartphone and scans the newly printed QR code on said receipt. You will then be promoted to upload your money to a digital wallet. I recommend BlueWallet. The Bitcoin economy is clearly growing: ATM’s, wallets, mining etc. It hasn’t happened yet although I foresee the government attempting to force a change like when we were told to ditch cable for digital TV. I have the same feeling.
People are living on Bitcoin, completely bypassing interaction with the United States dollar. An app called “Strike” has a feature built in that allows its users to be paid in BTC via direct deposit. The app will generate a routing and account number that you can give to your employer. What bank your money goes into is no one elses business.
