Police chase follows reported shooting on Coventry Drive
Northfield Village police arrested a woman Monday afternoon following a shooting incident that killed a dog and led to a brief vehicle pursuit.
Daila La’Shay Wilson, 24, of Euclid, was arrested after officers responded to reports of gunfire on Coventry Drive around 1:39 p.m. July 14. Police spotted Wilson’s silver 2016 Chrysler on North Plaza Drive and attempted a traffic stop, but she fled, leading officers on a short chase before pulling into a driveway and running from the vehicle.
Wilson was apprehended and charged with multiple felonies including discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, failure to comply with police orders, tampering with evidence, and aggravated menacing. She also faces a misdemeanor charge for injuring animals and driving under suspension.
Two residents of the Coventry Drive address were listed as victims of aggravated menacing in the incident. Police recovered a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun, spent shell casings, ammunition, and other evidence from the scene.
Wilson was transported to Summit County Jail and was scheduled for video arraignment July 15 at 10 a.m. The case has been cleared and closed by police.
