Introducing: Christopher Ramos – NordoniaHills.News Intern

By Christopher Ramos

You really can’t miss me, the kid with shaggy hair and books in his hand roaming the halls. Yes, that’s me.  I am Christopher Ramos, a senior at Nordonia High School.

With the final year winding down, most of my classmates are preparing for the great change, the transition into a new chapter.  As they begin that surreal experience, they are also taking advantage of the senior job shadow program, which allows students to intern at a place of their choice. Beginning on May 1st and concluding on May 16th, it is a great opportunity for students to be involved with new faces and gain exposure for their intended career plans.

As a student who plans to major in Journalism at Kent State, working with NordoniaHills.News is the best opportunity I could ask for. Gary Miller and Julie D’Aloiso have welcomed my presence with enthusiastic smiles.

I have been writing since I was a child, beginning with simple poetry. Then as my schooling progressed, I took more of an interest. My sophomore year of high school arrived, and thanks to the encouragement of my english teacher, Mrs. Miller, I decided that writing was what I wanted to do. Since then, I’ve been writing and reading extensively, filling my senior schedule with writing oriented classes.

Journalism is a front line occupation, it demands stout attentiveness followed by serious commitment. You are essentially, the bridge between the known and unknown. It can be grueling, I am sure, but the rewards are beautiful. To interact with the public and to leave an impact upon the community is what I strive to do. Coupled with that, I plan on writing quality stories as NordoniaHills.News continues to rapidly grow.

This is more than an internship, this is the foundation for my development in journalism. This opportunity will not only solidify my writing but will also help establish interviewing skills, as well as technical skills with cameras and video editing. In today’s times, a journalist has to be versatile.

All in all, I cannot emphasize how excited I am to contribute and to inform.
