Joyce Announces Opening of Application Period for Federal Firefighter Grants

WASHINGTON – Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) reminds officials across Ohio’s 14th District of the opportunity to apply for funding through the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2018. The application period will remain open until 5:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019.

“I’m proud to support funding for our local fire departments and will continue to ensure they have the personnel, equipment and training needed to do their jobs as safely as possible,” said Dave. “We need to do everything we can so that these brave men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our families and communities safe are protected and adequately equipped while on the job.”

The SAFER Grant Program distributes funds to assist fire departments and volunteer interest organizations with increasing or maintaining the number of trained firefighters and emergency services personnel available in their communities. The program seeks to assist local fire departments with deployment capabilities in order to respond to emergencies, ensuring communities have adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards. The grants are available to volunteer, professional or combination fire departments.
