Macedonia City Council Candidate Bio – Jessica Brandt

Jessica Brandt, 38, has lived her entire life in Macedonia. She grew up on Robin Lane and at the age of 25 bought her current home at the other end of the neighborhood on Bluejay Trail. Jessica is a 1997 graduate of Nordonia High School, and graduated cum laude in 2001 from Kent State University with a degree in journalism. Just prior to her college graduation, Jessica became interested in Web development and in 1999 started her own company with her brother’s friend. Nearly 20 years later, the pair are still business partners and the company continues to provide high-end Web development solutions to a myriad of companies in Ohio, around the country and around the world.

Jessica has never held political office, as politics is not among her passions. However, her hometown of Macedonia ranks high in her list of passions. She serves as secretary for the Redevelopment & Future Growth Committee, is a member of the Parks & Recreation Committee and was recently appointed to the Civil Service Commission. Finally dipping her toe in to politics, Jessica served as treasurer and coordinator for PACs supporting the 2016-2017 ballot issues 18, 19 and 3. Outside of her time serving the city, Jessica is also a founding member and chairperson for the Nordonia High School Alumni Band.

While serving on these various committees, Jessica came to find that Macedonia was falling well short of its potential. City pride was non-existent. Misinformation was spreading like wildfire. Jessica felt the call to run for council as a way to make sure her city would continue to be a place that she and all residents could be proud of. As a council member, Jessica would hope to look forward to the future of Macedonia, as well as make positive changes to benefit all residents today. She feels it is crucial for council to work together as one unit representing all residents. Jessica also feels it is crucial for council and the administration to educate voters on issues and be able to explain government processes, so as to quell the feelings of distrust and conspiracy. Most of all, Jessica would like to share her pride in Macedonia by representing all residents as a member of council.
