VILLAGE OF NORTHFIELD  ENGINEER’S REPORT – RICHARD S. WASOSKY, P.E., P.S.

Ledge Road Reconstruction Phase 1
Lockhart Concrete Co. has removed all of the poor subgrade soil and replaced it with limestone aggregate base. The entire roadway has been rough graded, and the south section of the road has been fine graded and proof rolled. The load transfer dowel bars have been installed along with the reinforcing steel in the eastbound lane from east of Salemi’s driveway to the corporation limit. All house connections, catch basins, manholes and yard drains have been installed. Paving of the eastbound lane is tentatively set for Friday night, October 15, 2016.
I will need Council’s approval to hire a concrete testing company to test the paving of the roadway and sidewalk concrete during construction. The testing firm charges $40.00 per hour per technician with a 4 hour minimum callout time plus $105.00 for one hour of the supervisor’s time per testing day. Time is charge portal to portal, and there is a $35.00 per day travel charge for their vehicle. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the normal rate. Concrete cylinder testing is $15.00 per cylinder.
Presidential Subdivision Resurfacing
My technicians have completed their marking and measuring of the proposed curb and gutter repair areas. I have done further investigations of the project site and will start the final plan and specification work later this month.

Community Development Block Grant for Ledge Road Sidewalks
I received a copy of the signed contract for the sidewalk portion of the project on October 12, 2016. Summit County is requiring some additional forms and paperwork be completed during the project, as well as a project sign erected indicating the project is being partially funded with Community Development Block Grant money. I have made a detail of the sign needed. I will have Jason Walters have the signing company we use make up the sign and have the Service Department install it.
