2020 Americanism & Government Test Winners

On Friday, January 24, 2020, Nordonia High School, along with the American Legion Post # 801 recognized this year’s winners of the American Legion Americanism and Government Test. Pictured from left to right are: Principal Casey Wright, Post Project Chair John Sullivan, Carmella Hack (So.), Caroline Orzechowski (Jr.), William Busse (So.), Phoenix Hanratty (Sr.), Julia Zaborsky (Sr.) and Post 801 Commander, David Pristash.

The Americanism and Government Test program is open to students in grades 10-12 and is a fifty (50) question test comprised of True/False, multiple choice, and fill-in the black. A three hundred (300) word essay is also part of the exam. The 50 questions of the Americanism and Government Test are written in such a manner to be current and topical to events, studies, and information being presented in Ohio high schools and events happening in the state of Ohio and the nation. On average, over 65,000 students participate in the test program annually.

Our winners received an award certificate and $25 each from Post # 801. Their exams will be submitted to the American Legion District Commander to further compete with other exams at the county, district, and state level. State recognition includes a five (5) day, all-expense paid trip to Gettysburg, PA and Washington D.C. Good luck to our students in this pursuit.
