House Fire

By Fire Chief Tim Black

Today at 10:16 AM the Macedonia Fire Department received a call from a private security company alert that a hallway smoke alarm at 7594 Brookgate Way had activated. The Fire Department immediately responded a Command car, 2 engines, one aerial tower, one Medic Unit, one Captain and one Chief as well as the Summit County Sheriffs. The Sherriff arrived first and witnessed smoke in the residence forced the front door and found heavy smoke. They entered and searched the first floor when Fire Units arrived and searched all other floors and discovered food burning on the stove. The Homeowner was called and arrived shortly after. A working smoke alarm connected to an outside security company saved this house from destruction says the Fire Chief Tim Black. The quick response by the Sheriff followed by the Fire department kept this fire from doing major damage. Working smoke detectors notify residence if they are home at the time of fires. Alarm companies monitor fire alarms 24/7 and notify the police and Fire departments of smoke and fire. In this instance all worked seamlessly ! All in all 12 Fire Department personnel responded as well as 5 Police Officers from Summit County Sheriff and Macedonia Police. No injuries were reported.
