Macedonia Council met Thursday to discuss the direction in which Macedonia must now proceed due to the failure of the tax levy. Finance Chairman Kevin Bilkie mentioned that another levy attempt will be put back on the November ballot for police, fire and service departments.
Council sent a strong message to the Mayor the that rescinding the tax credit was not an option, only if there is no other avenue to take. The carryover in the general fund will be between $270,000 and one million dollars. Services such as senior programs, senior plowing, gutter cleaning leaf removal and chipping are all viable reductions of services. Placement back on the November ballot of .25 MIL levy is a recommendation.
Bilkie spoke with Julie D’Aloiso after the meeting to discuss the options.
