Nordonia Baseball Team goes 1-1 in games this week.

On Friday night, the Nordonia Knights baseball team took on the Lake Blue Streaks. The Knights put Joey Derusso on the mound for this game. The Knights got off to a very slow start scoring no runs in the first 5 innings. Lake, however, was able to score 3 runs in the first 5 innings of the game. Taking advantage of Knights starter, Joey Derusso. After 5 it was 3-0 Lake. In the top of the 6th, the Blue Streaks scored another run to make it 4-0. In the bottom of the 6th, the Knights were able to cut into the lead. After two quick outs, Joey Derusso blasted a single to center field.  He was replaced by the speedy Caleb Cunningham. Cunningham was able to steal second and then scored on a single by Vince Varner. After a Nick Heiser single, Brenden O’Donnell singled home a run of his own, scoring Varner. After 6th it was 4-2 in favor of the Blue Streaks. In the bottom of the 7th, the Knights went on a big-time rally. Jacob Kraus started out the half-inning with a double. On the next at-bat, Mike Hamrick tripled him home on a big hit to center field. After walks to the next two batters, Vince Varner hit his 2nd rbi to center and scored Mike Hamrick to tie the game. With Billy Levak standing ay third, the Knights were in a position to end it. After an error by the center fielder, Levak was able to run home and score the game-winning run. The Knights had a come back after being down 4-0. The Knights won and brought their season record to 11-6.

On Wednesday, the Knights lost to the Hudson Explorers 10-8. Starting pitcher, Luke Jackson, had a tough day, giving up 6 runs in just 2 innings. The Explorers ended up taking an 8-0 lead after the 4th inning. The Knights would fight back in the bottom of the 3rd, making it a   run game. A Luke Jackson Fielder’s choice scored Aiden McFerren and got the inning started, an error scored the 2nd run and a single by Nick Heiser, scored Vince Varner. This made the game 6-5. The Knights would put up a good fight but would fall just short after 7 innings.

Lady Knights Win on Senior Night

The Lady Knights Softball team Finished 1 inning of their game against Stow on Monday. The game was delayed at that point. Jenn Willis started the game at pitcher and completed the first giving up only 1 hit. The game was delayed at that point. On Wednesday, The Lady Knights held their senior night presentation, honoring the hard-working senior Lady Knights, Nina Christley, Jenn Willis, Mijae Lewis, and Jordyn Dean. The Lady Knights won 9-6 over the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers. The Lady Knights had a big 2nd inning, scoring 6 runs. After getting 2 runners on, Senior Nina Christley hit a double to left field and scored 2 runs. She had 2 RBIs on the game. Later in the inning, Jenn Willis hit a 3-run double giving the Lady Knights a 3 run lead. They would hold this lead for the rest of the game. The win brought their record to 5-10 on the season.   

Boys and Girls Track Teams both Win Big

Both track teams hosted North Royalton on Wednesday and both teams had big wins. The boys won 95-42 and the girls won 91.5 to 45.5. The boys were the big winners earning a 7-0 record for the first time in the last 5 years. The girls finished their season 4-3. Scoring big for the Knights were Arianna Pearson, who scored 10 points by herself and 10 more as a part of the 4×1 and 4×2 relays.  Brenden Jackson scored 10 points on the day. The third leading scorer from the knights was Emily Eterovich with 8 points and 5 more in a relay. The Knights had great meets all around and made their seniors happy on senior night. The Knights have had a great regular season and look to continue into the postseason.
