A walk-off left Nordonia knights 8U on the wrong end of a 17-16 defeat to NR Bears – Rogers 8U on Thursday at York Rd Recreation Field. The game was tied at 16 in the bottom of the sixth when Dominic S singled, scoring one run.
Despite the loss, Nordonia knights 8U did collect 14 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, NR Bears – Rogers 8U had 15 hits on the way to victory.
Nordonia knights 8U got on the board in the top of the first inning after Bryar F doubled to center field, and Mason N stole home, each scoring one run.
NR Bears – Rogers 8U flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 6-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Jordan R that drove in two.
Nordonia knights 8U flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring nine runs on five hits to take the lead, 11-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Elijah P that drove in two.
NR Bears – Rogers 8U tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to an error, a single by Cole G, and a walk by Adam P.
A single by Bryar gave Nordonia knights 8U the lead, 15-13, in the top of the fifth.
NR Bears – Rogers 8U tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a double by Austin B, and a ground out by Landon S.
Nordonia knights 8U took the lead in the top of the sixth. Elijah doubled, scoring one run, to give Nordonia knights 8U the lead, 16-15.
NR Bears – Rogers 8U jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Jordan singled down the left field line, and Dominic singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Mason started the game for Nordonia knights 8U. The pitcher allowed eight hits and 10 runs (nine earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking five. Joey E led things off on the bump for NR Bears – Rogers 8U. The pitcher surrendered two hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking five.
Nordonia knights 8U accumulated 14 hits in the game. Elijah led Nordonia knights 8U with four runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Elijah, Blake C, and Bryar each collected three hits for Nordonia knights 8U. Mason collected two hits for Nordonia knights 8U in two at bats. Mason paced Nordonia knights 8U with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Mason stole three bases. Nordonia knights 8U ran wild on the base paths, collecting six stolen bases for the game.
NR Bears – Rogers 8U accumulated 15 hits in the game. Austin, Landon, Jordan, Dominic, and Adam each collected two hits for NR Bears – Rogers 8U. Dominic and Cole each drove in two runs for NR Bears – Rogers 8U. NR Bears – Rogers 8U had patience at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Owen G and Joey led the team with two walks each. Austin, Owen, Joey, and Decker H each stole multiple bases for NR Bears – Rogers 8U. NR Bears – Rogers 8U stole 15 bases in the game.
Nordonia knights 8UÂ will travel to Premier Ohio Steele 8U for their next game on Sunday.
