Last week the Nordonia Knights Ice Hockey Team had two inter-divisional games, one against Bay High School and the other against Elyria Catholic High School. Nordonia was able to come out with two solid wins and a few players were able to achieve first ever career goals.
The game against Bay will be memorable for two of the players. Junior Ashley Zelina scored her first career goal, a crisp backdoor goal, with a pass from Captain, Carson Carrell. Senior, Josh Lockshine scored his first career goal after skating the puck down ice and rocketing the biscuit right past the goaltender. The Knights ended up winning 10-0 ending the game in the second period due to the mercy rule.
The team dog was given to Josh Lockshine for his outstanding end-to-end effort that resulted in a first career goal. Honorable mention was awarded to Ashley Zelina for her ability to strategically position herself for a sweet first career goal.
The second game was at the North Park Ice arena against Elyria Catholic. Nordonia was able to end the game with less than 10 shots against them. The Knights were also able to put up 9 goals against the scoreless Panthers adding one more shut-out for the Knights’ goaltender Tommy Lippincot. Â
The team dog was given to Matt Monaco for his relentless effort throughout the game which resulted in a hat trick for the junior Knight.
The Knights continue to be undefeated in their division and are still looking to put a banner up for this year. They also have their eyes on a possible Baron Cup. The fight continues.
Go Knights!
