Stan Hywet Hall Stained Glass Windows

Earlier in May, someone asked about the stained-glass windows in Great Hall. We talked to our curator, who provided this interesting information:

“The windows in the Great Hall and the Tower are exact replicas of the stained-glass windows at Ockwells Manor in England. When the Seiberlings traveled to England in 1912 and in 1915 they met and befriended Lord and Lady Barry who owned Ockwells Manor. They stayed at the manor home during both trips and at one point requested that they be allowed to copy the window design to include in Stan Hywet Hall.

Lord and Lady Barry agreed, and to our knowledge these are the only copy of the windows that has ever been allowed.”
