Keep An Eye On This Guy: Photographer and Videographer Anthony Q. Tucker

By Nicholette Marbley

With people slowly but surely coming out of hibernation, what better way to celebrate your family or yourself with professional photos by booking a photoshoot with Tuck’s Vision Productions. Anthony Q. Tucker is a 28-year-old from Elyria, Ohio who specializes in videography and photography out of Elyria, Ohio. When he is not capturing pictures for photoshoots and filming local movies; he is spending time with his son and girlfriend, reading, and learning new skills to perfect his craft. This talented artist has a lot to offer. He will be producing my ”Gratitude Video” consisting of all the things I’ve done over the quarantine period. Here is the backstory of this Cleveland gem.

When is your birthday?

Tucker: December 5, 1992

What’s your family background?

Tucker: As far as I know, my Dad’s parents came from down south. Grandma is from Mississippi and my Grandpa is from Alabama. My Mom’s parents I am not too sure beyond the point of being born and raised in Elyria also. My Dad’s name is Anthony Q. Tucker Sr. and Mom’s name is Melanie K. Tucker (Springer). I have just one sibling, an older sister (29) named Ashley N. Tucker.

Describe your adolescent years.

Tucker:The younger part of my adolescence was spent playing outside with my friends. As I got older my hobbies changed and that’s when I started getting into making youtube videos. During most of my junior high and high school years, I spent making youtube lip sync videos. Since then, I have gone from lip-syncing to making my own short films.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

Tucker:I would have to say hitting my first home run in little league. It was an in the park home run but a homerun nonetheless. What makes this my favorite memory is that I was never the best at batting up until that point. Hitting a homerun one my first hit was one of the happiest moments in my life. It just felt great to finally hit the ball and be able to hear everyone cheering for me.

What schools did you attend?

Tucker: I attended Elyria High and during my last two years of high school, I attended Lorain County JVS. That is how I pursued my current career in filmmaking.

What made you want to pursue videography and photography? Tucker: I got started making lip sync videos on YouTube around 2008. I did that for a few years and then I started to get more interested in video editing. I was able to go to LCJVS and take a media class for two years. During this time I learned more behind the scenes in creating short films and started my interest in photography. After that, I decided that I wanted to become a filmmaker. Creating videos and taking for other people is something I enjoy doing but my ultimate goal is to be a filmmaker.

What was your favorite project to work on?

Tucker: My favorite project would have to be my last short film, “Killer Date.” I would have to say this is my favorite because I had this idea in my head for a couple of months before I even started writing. Here’s the trailer

What’s the biggest challenge being a photographer/videographer?

Tucker: I would say trying to get clients because with today’s technology any smartphone can take photos just as well as a Canon or Sony camera. Why would someone pay me for something their kids/grandkids could do with their phone. This being the reason my rates are low and I try to give my client more photos than expected.

What services do you offer?

Tucker: Anyone that is interested in my photoshoots can start off with the basic 1hour package including 1-2 locations within a 5-mile radius of each other. Prices for photoshoots will go up varying on how long you want to shoot and/or how many locations. I also offer in-home photoshoots with a couple of different color backdrops. This can be done at your house or personal house of your choosing(if permitted to do so). I also provide videographer services, from actually shooting the project to editing it as well. My videographer rates vary by the project since each one is different.

Do you have any upcoming projects?

Tucker:I will be releasing a snippet of a video I did for my friend/barber. You can be on the lookout for that. Besides that, I am working on a few different short scripts right now.

Are you running any specials?

Tucker: Recently, on my Instagram account I will post a picture with my location and if you find me there you will get a free 20-minute photoshoot. Sometimes when I am out I will leave my business cards laying around and if you find it, send me a message with a picture of my card and you will get a free half-hour shoot. I don’t have any promos for videographer work, but if you find my business card and want a video, we can talk something over.

Where do you ultimately want to end up?

Tucker: My life long goals are to direct features and short films.

What would you like our readers to know about you? Tucker:  I am always up for new projects and people to collaborate with. Besides working on my own projects I am very willing to help others out on theirs. Being able to work with other people on different projects is always great.
