Beginning Tuesday, September 7, Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro is sponsoring the Clear the Shelter adoption event at Summit County Animal Control, located at 250 Opportunity Parkway in Akron. Clear the Shelters is an annual, nationwide pet adoption drive that helps find loving homes for animals in need. More than 551,000 pets have found their forever homes since 2015. Summit County’s special adoption event will last until Saturday, September 18. Interested individuals must schedule an appointment to participate in the event. Please call 330-643-2845 to schedule an appointment.
Dogs and cats will be available for the discounted price of $28 per dog (regularly $94 per dog), and $10 per cat (regularly $60 per cat). The animals will be fully vetted (blood work, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay/neuter and vaccinations) and ready to be taken home. Individuals who adopt a dog will receive a 2021 Summit County Dog License (included in adoption price).
