A long time resident of Maple View Road told Council Oct. 28, that has has tried several things, including bringing in a backhoe to level areas of his years, to stop water retention problems. All to no avail. The man said his yard is “ the toilet for all things coming off east and west Bedford Road.
The resident said a pipe runs under the road and collects debris along the way, ending up in the lowest point – his backyard.
The man said he has asked for help from various mayors and council people for more than 40 years, he said. And it’s not just his home. Several yards in his area are affected during rain.
Pipes have been installed, but they are too small, he said.
“I’m getting fed up with it,” he said. “Forty years has been long enough. There have been other projects in the area. But in the north end, nothing happens.”
Mayor Molnar said he would talk with the man and perhaps see what the city can do.
In other business:
* Legislation was passed ratifying the collective bargaining agreement between the city and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Local 436 for 2020 to 2022.
* First reading of 2022 annual appropriations for the city of Macedonia.
* Passed legislation pertaining to tax appropriations.
* Mayor Molnar asked that residents taking part in the city leaf removal program, leave the leaves in yards. Do not put them in the road. Also, do not put items other than leaves, Molnar asked.
The next council meeting will be Nov. 25
