Summit County Animal Control holds Clear the Shelter Adoption Event

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—Beginning Monday, August 1, Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro officially launched the Summit County Animal Control’s Clear the Shelter Adoption Event! Clear the Shelters is an annual, national pet adoption drive that helps animals in need find new, loving homes. Last year, 20 shelters across Northeast Ohio found new homes for over 2,500 pets! Residents can stop by 250 Opportunity Parkway in Akron or call 330-643-2845 to visit or schedule an appointment.

During the Clear the Shelter Adoption Event adoption costs will be reduced to $28 for dogs (regularly $94) and $5 for cats (regularly $50) from Monday, August 1 to Wednesday, August 31. The animals will be fully vetted (bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay/neuter, and vaccinations) and ready to be taken home. Those who adopt a dog will receive a 2022 Summit County Dog License included in the adoption cost. Call 330-643-2845 with if you are interested or have any questions.

We are so proud to participate in this annual campaign as we want to take this opportunity to thank our staff at Summit County Animal Control and our wonderful residents to continuing to support, adopt, and love our animals. We are proud that year after year, hundreds of dogs and cats get new homes and we look forward to your participation this year.

And, if you aren’t able to adopt another furry friend, consider following, liking, or sharing posts from Summit County Animal Control or Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro or using the hashtag #CleartheShelters to spread the word. The animals really appreciate it and we all see the results of your efforts!
