Brian Sparano, who holds a PhD in Chemistry/Biochemistry, along with the rest of the Ostrich Air Battlebots team, competed in Las Vegas in October for the Battlebots competition. Battlebots will be aired on Discovery channel this Thursday January 11, 2022 at 8pm. Watch a Nordonia native compete in the worldwide Battlebots competition, along with other teams.
Sparano, son of retired executive director of Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce Laura Sparano, and native Nordonian, received his Bachelors degree in Chemistry at Baldwin Wallace University, and his PhD in chemistry/biochemistry at University of Pittsburgh.
The Ostrich Air team was formed in 2018 as a drone racing team by a group of five friends. Jonathan Collazo, CEO, innovator, disruptor and advisor “FOCUSED ON CREATING SOMETHING LEGENDARY”, along with Derek Stevens decided to turn Ostrich Air into a company. Stevens, CTO, aerospace and mechanical engineer of Stanford aero/astro engineering, Eric Carpenter, director of field operations, US Air force propulsion specialist, and Jeff Gick, COO and special project research, commercial pilot are part of Ostrich Air Battlebots team as well.
