Susan A. Skelley (nee Fouse) passed away, age 90, after a hard fought battle with illness. She was born in Texas in 1934 to Martha (Wolff) and Mahlon Fouse. She had fond memories of camping on Galveston beach as a child, as well as riding out hurricanes with the rest of the community in her parents’ large farmhouse where many gathered. When her father passed, the family moved to Ohio. She was a diligent student, worked in the school gardens, and after graduating from John Adams High School, and took a job at Sealtest, where she met her husband. She spent much of her life caring for others, which was what she felt called to do. She took care of many people of all ages. If she met you at her home, she would immediately ask, “Have you eaten?” When she returned to work, she chose to be a nurse’s aide, as that most closely matched her loving and giving nature. She also enjoyed being in nature, planting her garden every year and watching birds through the changing seasons.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C.; loving mother of Marty Goan (James), Carol Anne Carroll-Kral (Steven), and Barbara Chick (Thomas); loving stepmother of Robert (Beverly), David (dec.) (Elizabeth), and Dennis (dec.); Loving grandmother of Ian (Rachel), David (Amari), Jenn (Patrick), Steven (Jenn), Jonathan (Kacie), Kristina (Jon), Sean (Angela), and the late Eugene; loving great-grandmother to 17. She was extremely close to her sisters, the late Marjorie Novak and Betty Cikach; step-sister of the late Harold Fouse, Ruth Schreiner, and Helen DePue. Loving aunt, great-aunt, and friend of many, she is sorely missed by us all. Visitation at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 99 West Aurora Road, Northfield Center, Ohio will be from 4-7 PM Friday, March 14, 2025 where a memorial service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, March 15, 2025. Inurnment will follow at Northfield-Macedonia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Susan’s memory to The Audubon Society or the Alzheimer’s Association. www.johnsonromito.com
