SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—May isn’t only about being over the showers and into the flowers, it’s also National Pet Month! Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro announced a special adoption event reducing dog adoption fees to just $28 (regularly $94) throughout the entire month of May.
“Studies show that interacting with animals is good for our health beyond just the love and compassion they bring out in us,” Shapiro stated. “This emotional support and comfort help lower our cortisol levels and blood pressure!”
The reduced fee includes a comprehensive package—all adoptable dogs are microchipped, fully vetted with bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay or neuter services, and vaccinations. Each adoption also includes a 2025 Summit County Dog License at no additional cost.
