Summit County Executive, Prosecutor, Sheriff host Outsmart the Scam event

Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro, Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich, Sheriff Kandy Fatheree, and County Councilwoman Bethany McKenney, are holding an “Outsmart the Scam Workshop” on Saturday, June 14 from 10:00am-12:00pm to help residents prevent and respond to scams while learning hands-on instruction on how to safely navigate their digital devices.

The “Outsmart the Scam Workshop” will take place at Barberton Middle School, 477 4th Street NW, in Barberton and will consist of 3 breakout sessions based on digital skill levels from 10:30am-11:30am. 

  • Beginners: “Digital Basics”
  • Intermediate: “Elevate Your Digital Skills”
  • Expert: “Exploring Advanced Tech”

The sessions will feature digital navigators from the Akron Metropolitan Housing Association and speakers from Fairlawn Gig and the Summit County Office of Information Technology. 

Following the breakout sessions, an optional Q&A will be offered from 11:30am-12:00pm for more one-on-one, hands-on assistance.
