Knights Wrestling Opens Season With Strong Performances

The Knights kicked off the new season this weekend with the boys competing at the North Coast Classic in Independence and the girls taking the mat at Brush for their tournament.

Sophomore Skyler McGlothin had an impressive showing, finishing 5th with a 6–2 record. His only losses came against returning state placewinners. Several Knights earned their first wins of the season, and a few celebrated their first-ever varsity victories in their debut competition.

On the girls’ side, congratulations to returning state qualifier Cece Gilliam, a junior, who dominated the tournament with a 5–0 record, earning four pins and a tech fall to secure the championship. Way to go, Cece! Freshman Sayla Tompkins also had a strong start to her varsity career, finishing 3–2 in her first-ever tournament. Great job, girls!

This week, both the boys and girls teams head south to Vincent Warren—varsity boys on Saturday and the girls on Sunday.
