MACEDONIA, Ohio – The Nordonia High School varsity baseball and softball teams faced a grueling stretch of competition during the last week of March 2026, dropping four contests against formidable Northeast Ohio opponents. Despite the losses, the Nordonia Knights saw standout individual performances at the plate from players like Kaminski and Smeal as the teams worked to find their rhythm early in the spring season.

Nordonia Knights Baseball Drops Close Contest to Cloverleaf

The Nordonia Varsity Knights baseball team started their week with a heartbreaker on March 24, falling 6-4 to Cloverleaf. Nordonia initially held a 4-2 lead in the third inning following doubles by Kaminski and Ritchie, but Cloverleaf rallied in the fifth to secure the win. Kaminski was a bright spot for the Knights, leading the offense with two hits while also pitching two and one-third innings, allowing zero hits and only one earned run.

University School Overpowers Nordonia Varsity Knights

On March 29, the baseball team traveled to Som Center Road but struggled to contain the University School Varsity Preppers in an 11-1 loss. While the Knights’ defense remained sure-handed with zero errors, the pitching staff had difficulty slowing down US hitter Nelson, who went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. McClelland and Nealon provided the offensive sparks for Nordonia, each tallying two hits in the effort.

Nordonia Varsity Lady Knights Softball Faces Hudson Power

The Nordonia softball squad met a powerful Hudson lineup on March 26, resulting in a 13-6 defeat. Hudson’s Baylor set the tone with two home runs and five RBIs. For the Lady Knights, Smeal proved to be a force in the middle of the order, driving in three runs, while Shirey contributed two hits to demonstrate the team’s depth.

Lady Knights Out-Hit North Royalton in Tough Loss

In their most recent outing on March 30, the Lady Knights actually out-hit North Royalton nine to eight but were undone by defensive miscues in an 8-4 loss. Smeal continued her hot streak with three hits, and Paul drove in two runs. The Lady Knights look to clean up the errors as they prepare for their next matchup against Kenston.
