Nordonia Varsity Knights easily dispatched Cuyahoga Falls Varsity Black Tigers on Monday at Nordonia High School, 18-3.
Nordonia Varsity Knights got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Canzoni doubled, scoring one run, Wolff doubled, scoring two runs, Toth singled, scoring one run, Mitchner drew a walk, scoring one run, McClelland drew a walk, scoring one run, Kramer induced Ritchie to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Canzoni singled, scoring one run.
Nordonia Varsity Knights added seven more runs in the bottom of the second inning on three hits. McClelland singled, scoring two runs, Ritchie hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Wolff singled, scoring one run, and Kaminski homered to left field, scoring three runs.
Nordonia Varsity Knights extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Pawlowski and Rizzo.
Leitner earned the win for Nordonia Varsity Knights. The hurler gave up four hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Tompkins took the loss for Cuyahoga Falls Varsity Black Tigers. The righty went one-third of an inning, giving up eight runs on four hits, striking out one and walking five.
Nordonia Varsity Knights tallied 13 hits in the game. Canzoni and Wolff were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Nordonia Varsity Knights. Wolff, McClelland, and Kaminski each drove in three runs for Nordonia Varsity Knights. Nordonia Varsity Knights had patience at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. Mitchner, McClelland, and Leitner led the team with two bases on balls each.
Leadoff hitter Davis led Cuyahoga Falls Varsity Black Tigers with two hits in three at bats.
