Longwood Manor Historical Society announces the opening of the 2nd floor for viewing. This is in honor of the 100th anniversary of Longwood Manor.
Now open to the public, the 2nd floor features the main living areas of Colonel William Frew Long, first Mayor of Macedonia, and his wife Isabel. The bedroom features the individual closets and bathrooms of the Colonel and Mrs Long, as well as her dressing room. The bathrooms are in Art Deco style and show the original plumbing fixtures.
The living area is actually a combination parlor and dining room. On display is some of the riding gear from the Colonel’s days with the Summit Hunt Club.
The 100th anniversary celebrates the Longwood Manor from its days as a Summer cottage for Colonel Long and his wife. The current structure shows the Tudor Revival addition built in the late 1940’s to become their permanent home.
Tours are given the last Sunday of the month, April through October, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Special events coming up include the Haunted Manor on Saturday, October 17th; and Christmas Open House, Sunday, December 13th. Join us at 1634 East Aurora Road in Macedonia.
