Susan Carol Kapela, age 78, of Stow, formerly a longtime resident of Northfield, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Sue is the beloved daughter of the late William and Donna Gail; loving mother of Donald (Amanda) Schaub, Jill Godbold, Elizabeth (Michael) Walker, Andrew (Katelyn) Schaub and the late Pamela (Andrew, surviving) Pinchot.
She was a cherished grandmother of Carl, Nick, Hayden (Georgia), Jonah, Emma, Addison, Elliana and Benjamin; great grandmother of Brynlee; dear sister of the late Katherine Czarninski; dear aunt of Heather Czarninski.
Music was a lifelong love, beginning with her graduation from The Ohio State University in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. She began her career teaching music at Rushwood Elementary School and later shared her gift by teaching voice and piano lessons from her home while raising her five children.
She found joy in traveling, quiet days at the beach, crocheting and knitting, cooking, and the loving companionship of her little dog, Bella. Above all else, her greatest joy was her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply, taking immense pride in their lives and accomplishments. They were the melody of her heart, the source of her greatest happiness, and the most precious gift of her life.
The family will receive friends 12:00PM-1:00PM Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Northfield Baptist Church, 311 W. Aurora Rd., Northfield, OH where funeral services will begin at 1:00PM. Interment to follow at Northfield-Macedonia Cemetery.
