NHS Knights Varsity Hockey Beat the Bees 10-0

Last night was a great opening night of Nordonia Knights varsity hockey at the Dan Kostel ice rink in Garfield Heights. Knights goalie Kevin Waite had a shutout against the Brecksville Bees.  Waite, a senior at Nordonia High School has played two years as Knights varsity goalie, and is appearing to have a great start to their hockey season.  Waite began practicing with the team over two years ago as senior Tommy Lippincott was getting ready to graduate, allowing Waite to reveal his “cat-like” reflexes. Senior Daniel Kimpton, the team’s most experienced defenseman, didn’t let much sneak by him, giving an extra layer of protection against Waite.

Knights were up by four goals at the end of the first period, four at the end of the second, and ended the game early by scoring the two remaining goals needed to enforce the “Mercy Rule”.

The Playmakers:

Juniors Brett Rapp and Noah Vega each scored hat tricks (3), followed by juniors Owen Tindall and Jacob Waite with two goals each.  Dominic Nanne, a freshman scored his first career high school goal!

Numerous assists came from juniors Rapp-4 Tindall-2, J.Waite-2, and one each from sophomore Patrick McNally, senior Daniel Kimpton, and junior Simon Kiselis, a foreign exchange student from Germany.

The chilly atmosphere was sparked with lively energy and contagious cheering at the Dan Kostel ice arena, where parents, grandparents, and student spectators cheered on their favorite Knights players.
