Friends, Neighbors, and Constituents,
I have been honored to serve you for 24 years as judge of the municipal court. Before the winds of partisanship blow through the region with this Fall’s election, I want to take a few moments to tell you a few things about me as I pursue another term as judge.
- I am seeking re-election again as a non-partisan. Much like many of you, I am disappointed with the state of discourse in today’s political arena and it has no business invading our courthouses. I am proud to have support from many friends and community leaders from all sides of the political spectrum, but I will not be seeking support from either party organization.
- In the 10th year at our new courthouse at Route 8 and Steels Corners Road, the construction debt and operational costs are not being paid by you, the taxpayers. It is important to me that law-abiding citizens do not carry the burden of paying to operate the court. That responsibility should rest on the offenders who use it.
- Experience matters. I have two opponents this year, who may be fine people, however neither has enough experience to serve as judge. The Akron Bar Association’s bipartisan Commission on Judicial Candidates determined that I am the only candidate in this race worthy of their highest rating of “Excellent.”
Thank you for your consideration. I vow to continue to serve you in a manner that is worthy of the office you have entrusted me with for the past 24 years.
Sincerely,
Kim Hoover
