Amateur Radio Field Day Event 2022

NORTHFIELD CENTER TOWNSHIP – The PrepNet Radio Group will be participating in the American Radio Relay League’s (ARRL) annual Field Day Event at the Townships’ gazebo located at the Townhall at 9546 Brandywine Rd from Saturday June 25th at 1PM until Sunday June 26th at 1PM.

The PrepNet is a group of Northern Summit County Amateur “Ham” Radio operators who, without phones, wires or the Internet, routinely communicate with other hams worldwide.  Members of the PrepNet range in age from 14 to 80-years old and have earned awards in worldwide radio contests and have been conducting Field Day events since 2009.

The purpose of Field Day is to demonstrate the communications ability of the amateur radio community in simulated emergency situations. Groups across the continent use Field Day as a literal “show and tell” exhibition. At sites from the tundra of Alaska to the sandy beaches of Hawaii and Puerto Rico, amateur radio brings together its resources to show the public and officials in government and various agencies what “amateur radio can do.”

Everyone is invited to stop in and see how the time-tested capabilities of Amateur Radio can come through for the community during emergencies and disasters.  Visitors may even have the opportunity to actually talk with stations thousands of miles away!
