Browns Show Team Can Win Without RB Nick Chubb

The Cleveland Browns proved on Sunday something that was very important for all fans to realize. Of course, the injury to running back Nick Chubb against the Pittsburgh Steelers was devastating to all watching. However, football is in fact a team sport and the season continues.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson and company defeated the Tennessee Titans by a score of 27-3 in Cleveland to improve the team’s record to 2-1 on the season. Next week, the Browns host the Baltimore Ravens in another home affair.

Before this week, the Browns signed running back Kareem Hunt to a one-year contract worth up to four million dollars. In this Titans game, Hunt had five carries for 13 yards on the afternoon. Additionally, he caught two passes for 22 yards.

This win showed just how great the Browns defense is by only allowing three points. Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill only threw for 104 yards (13/25). Most notably, the Browns sacked Tannehill five times including 3.5 from defensive end Myles Garrett who was absolutely unstoppable all afternoon. The Titans were only able to get six first downs and went 2/12 on third-down efficiency.

Yes, Watson looked much better throwing the ball compared to the previous two games. He went 27/33 for 289 yards and two touchdowns. A QBR of 123.4.

This win goes to show that the Browns are still a very capable team despite the loss of the injured Chubb. Even though Hunt did not have mind-blowing numbers, the team was able to dominate overall without the top back in uniform.

Yes, in 2022 Chubb had 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns on 302 carries. The back averaged five yards an attempt and was a steadfast force on the Cleveland offense throughout the entire season. Moreover, Chubb has rushed for 6,511 yards in his five full seasons + two games.

There is certainly no denying that Chubb will be missed and the Browns will not be the same without the star. Even so, this team has the talent on both offense and defense to win games throughout this season. The win against the Titans goes to show just how lethal this roster is as a unit.

Now, it’s just a matter of if the Browns can maintain the winning ways for a full season and keep on playing this type of football moving forward. What a way to dominate against the Titans at home. With or without Nick Chubb, look out. This team is ready to destroy its next opponent.

Of course, we here at Nordonia Hills News wish Nick Chubb the best in his recovery.
