Clean Express Takes Over Former Macedonia Car Wash with Major Upgrades (VIDEO TOUR)

New 117-location chain brings multi-state membership benefits and community partnerships

Clean Express Auto Wash has taken over and extensively renovated the former car wash location in Macedonia on Freeway Drive, bringing customers access to a 117-location network spanning six states and setting it apart from local competitors through comprehensive membership benefits and corporate backing.

Multi-State Membership Network

Clean Express operates five distinct brands across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Customers purchasing memberships at the Macedonia location can use their plans at any of the company’s 117 sites throughout Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, Dayton, Pittsburgh, Hampton Roads, Detroit, and other markets.

The company’s five brands include Moo Moo Express Car Wash in the Columbus area, Flying Ace Car Wash in Dayton and Richmond, Indiana with new Cincinnati locations planned, Bee Clean Express Car Wash in Zanesville, Green Clean Express Car Wash in Virginia and North Carolina, and Clean Express in Cleveland, Detroit, Toledo, and Pittsburgh.

Significant Investment in Upgrades

Management invested approximately $250,000 in improvements to bring the former location up to company quality standards. Upgrades included tunnel enhancements, chemistry system improvements, maintenance equipment, and customer experience features beyond basic operational requirements.

Community Integration Programs

The location has partnered with Fostering Hope, a local nonprofit organization supporting foster children. During the first 10 days of operation, new unlimited membership customers receive 50 percent discounts for three months, with $10 signup fees benefiting the organization’s programs. More details about Fostering Hope will be featured in an upcoming article.

Clean Express operates an ongoing charity initiative through their EWC Cares Towel Program, where $4 towel purchases are donated entirely to the EWC Cares Foundation. The foundation typically distributes approximately $500,000 annually to small, hyperlocal charities, with management targeting $1 million in future distributions.

Corporate Growth Trajectory

Founded in Columbus in February 2008, the company survived early challenges including the 2008 financial crisis. The business has expanded from three initial locations to 117 sites with plans for 15 additional locations this year, demonstrating consistent growth over 16 years of operation.
