County Executive Shapiro Announces Fall In Love With Your New Pet Adoption Event

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—The leaves are turning, football season has begun, and we are seeing mums all over town. Sounds like it is time to Fall In Love With Your New Pet! County Executive Ilene Shapiro is pleased to announce this new adoption event, beginning Monday, September 11 and ending Tuesday, October 31. Residents can call 330-643-2845 to schedule an appointment or visit the facility during business hours. Residents can browse adorable pictures of our furry friends on social media.

During the adoption event, costs are reduced to $28 for dogs (regularly $94) and $5 for cats (regularly $60). The animals are fully vetted (includes bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal de-worming, spay or neuter, and vaccinations), microchipped and ready to be taken home. Those who adopt a dog will also receive a 2023 Summit County Dog License included in the adoption cost.

And remember, if you have a lost dog or cat, don’t forget to check Animal Control. And if you need cat food or litter, dog food, or treats, Animal Control hosts a monthly pet food giveaway on the last Tuesday of each month from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
